SharePoint Branding
Branding refers to changing the out-of-the-box "look and feel" of Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies to adapt to a customized Web site design. The design can be a creative effort that either your organization has designed and approved "in-house" or one which we have designed for your organization. Either way, the design must be developed with SharePoint in mind.
A typical Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) branding effort consists of the following tasks:
- Create a Master Page and Page Layout for the site home page.
- Create one or more Master Pages for sub-sites.
- Create one or more Page Layouts for sub-sites.
- Customize the search results page to match the Web site design.
- Customize Web part styling elements, such as the Content Query Web part.
- Customize the Calendar list view and list item view.
- Update all of the various MOSS CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) files so the defined elements in the CSS match the approved final design.
- Create custom Web parts for certain features.
A typical MOSS branding effort takes us about two weeks to complete once scheduled.
Additionally, and depending on your organization's branding requirements, branding can involve making the MOSS branding effort compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 as well as testing the MOSS branding effort on certain browser/OS combinations to ensure the branded design looks and functions as expected. This typically takes an additional two weeks to complete, but is totally dependent on your organization's requirements - and budget.
